What Do You Do If You Can't Lose Weight?

When you are trying to lose weight it can seem if the whole world around you is slim and healthy and you are the only one who can't lose weight. I know because I used to feel like that too. I've heard many people say the same thing - that no matter what they try they just can't seem to drop any unwanted pounds and lose the weight. Well you may be right that you haven't been able to do it in the past, but I'm hear to tell you that you CAN drop those pounds - you just need to find the right way for you.
You see the reason there are so many diets and plans out there is because different things work for different people and while one person can seem to melt the fat away on one diet, it won't work for everyone. OK so you probably know this already and you've come to this article looking for answers instead of me telling you the background on diets, so right now you want to know how is this going to help you?
What you need to do: Look at your diet carefully
Many people just assume that because they are eating healthy foods or have given up that late night candy bar that the weight will miraculously drop off but in reality they often have no idea how many calories they are actually consuming in a day so the first step in working out why you can't lose weight is to take a good look at your current diet plan.
Don't forget your drinks as many times these are high in calories and you don't even realize you are consuming such a high number. A good way to keep track of your calories during the day is to keep a diary and write down everything you eat or drink and add up the amount at the end of each day.
If your diet could so with a few adjustments then make those and try again. If you feel that the calories you are eating are low enough to let you burn fat but still the right amount to stay healthy then perhaps it is the types of foods you are choosing.
If your food contains a lot of flour, pasta, potatoes and breads it could be possible that you don't metabolism carbohydrates very well and you may need to look at a low carb diet and see if that helps you get back on track. On the other hand, if your diet is already low carb, have a look at the other types of foods you are consuming. Many low carb diets are actually high in fat with lots of red meat, butter and oil and all that fat could be adding padding to your booty and not helping you lose weight.
A good diet should contain lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, lean meats, some dairy and the occasional treat. It should also contain enough calories to keep your metabolism high. If you have cut out too much food it could be that you have put yourself into starvation mode and your body is trying to cling to any bit of food it can. If this is the case you need to kick start that metabolism by exercising more and consuming enough calories to get your body back in optimum performance.
If after all your detective work you still can't seem to work out why you are not losing weight, perhaps it's time to see a doctor to rule out any issues that could be preventing you from losing weight.
